How does a webinar work?

First of all - you can't be seen. A couple of minutes before the webinar start time, click the Zoom link that comes by email to you, as soon as you purchase the course. Follow the instructions which will ask you to download some software. Once the training starts, you will see/hear me. You can ask questions via 'chat' which you can find at the bottom of the Zoom screen. See here for more info on Zoom.

What sort of therapist is this training for?

I'm a counsellor and counselling supervisor, I teach counselling and mental health awareness.

I deliberately chose 'Therapist' because this training is appropriate for most, if not all, therapists who are in private practice. Counsellor, Hypnotherapist, Beauty Therapist, Holistic Therapist. Anyone who is not an HCPC (Health & care professions council) regulated professional.

What exactly is covered?

We will cover the origins of Safeguarding, review current legislation and look at the impact on various professions, including independent therapists.

At the end you will be able to produce your Safeguarding Code if you wish.

Why do I need Safeguarding Awareness?

Sadly there are people who prey on others, sometimes through thoughtlessness, sometimes deliberately.

Safeguarding legislation was created after several appalling crimes, the Soham Murders being the first.

This training will help you understand the current situation in the UK, and support you to decide your Safeguarding policy or code,

Is this training suitable for me if I'm a therapist in private practice?

YES. This training has been designed by me specifically for UK therapists in private practice.

We will look at what Safeguarding is, and what it isn't and what we need to consider as an independent therapist.

I teach at FE colleges and in Adult Education. I have over 30 years training experience.

I'm an experienced Counsellor, Supervisor & Business Coach who supports therapists with their businesses, so that they can enjoy the practice they want.
